Gold Silver Time 2007 has drawn to a close
October 7 saw the end of the 8th edition of the Gold Silver Time Jewellery and Watch Fair, the largest autumn meeting of the jewellery and watch industry in Poland. The Fair was held under the honorary auspices of Mayor of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz and Mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz.
The event gathered 225 exhibitors, including 10 companies from abroad. The products which they presented were dominated by yellow and white gold jewellery of classic design; silver and fashion jewellery was there to be found as well. The event enjoyed considerable interest from trade representatives from Poland and abroad, and the visiting public alike (the Fair was open to the general public on its final day): Gold Silver Time attracted 5,000 trade visitors and retailers.
The Amber Ambassador
The presence of Gdańsk Mayor Paweł Adamowicz at Gold Silver Time is significant not only due to the fact that the Warsaw event is attended by an ever increasing number of amber jewellery companies from the Pomeranian Region, of which Gdańsk is the capital. Moreover, it was here that on October 5, Mayor Adamowicz presented Lidia Popiel with a nomination for the first Amber Ambassador, which is a new project within the Gdańsk Development Strategy until 2015. Lidia Popiel, a renowned photographer connected with the fashion business for many years, will be promoting amber jewellery for the next two years.
Exhibitions
Jarosław Westermark's retrospective exhibition was an important highlight of the Fair. Westermark is one of the best known art jewellers in Poland. The "Museums at Fairs" series brought an exhibition of animal amber inclusions in jewellery by the Polish Academy of Sciences, Museum of the Earth. It was complemented perfectly by a presentation of the amber forest and the way inclusions were formed, prepared by the University of Gdańsk Museum of Amber Inclusions.
Also to be seen were the entries in the 16th International Silverart Competition "Absolute Beauty," the pieces featured for the past twelve months on the cover of Polski Jubiler (the Polish Jeweller magazine), works by the graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Łód, Jewellery Department, as well as of the Art School Complex (ZSP) in Częstochowa and the State Art Centre in Warsaw.

Jewellery and fashion
Organised at the Jan III Sobieski Hotel, the Exhibitors' Evening has become a permanent feature of Gold Silver Time. The fashion and jewellery show is its definite highlight, this year staged by 3 companies: Balt, Kar-Gold and Timex, which presented amber jewellery and watches. The show's set was developed by Jarosław Szado, with hair and make-up by Tomasz Jacyków. For 3 hours this renowned stylist advised the ladies who were interested in revamping their style on how to change their image and choose the right jewellery to go with the clothing. Although a first, this idea was received very favourably by both the Fair's visiting public and its exhibitors; therefore, it is highly probable that style tips and advice will become a permanent feature at the exhibition.
Other events
The Fair was also accompanied by: a session of the Polish Jewellers' Forum on Expert Opinions on Jewellery in Poland and the 6th International Conference of the Polish Electroplating Society on The Electroplating of Light Metals. As each year, the experts from the Association of Jewellery Experts carried out jewellery valuation free of charge.
